Starý zámek Rynholec - Chateau

The historical beginnings of Rynholec are linked to an important route connecting Prague with north-western Bohemia and Saxony. Rynholec was mentioned for the first time in historical documents in 1330. In later years it was the property of the Order of St. Mary Magdalene in Újezd, Prague and since the end of the 15th century the Martinic family from Smečno settled here permanently. Rynholec did not have a residential significance for them (neither did the nearby Sobín castle), but they used it as the centre of their forestry production. A gamekeeper’s and forester’s lodge were established in the village, as well as a new manorial farm, built between 1825 and 1841 on a regular floor plan and with a central court of honour.

The complex, consisting of a two-storey residential building with a mansard roof and two ground-floor farm buildings, was leased by the Martinic family throughout the second half of the 19th century, and was not sold until 1900. The current owner JUDr. Zdeněk Prázdný has renewed the complex and turned it into a chateau-like residence.
