Petrovice - Chateau
The Petrovice Chateau is located in the outskirts of Bohemian Silesia, at the edge of the village of Prstná, which is part of the village of Petrovice u Karviné. Its location on the provincial border meant that Petrovice historically belonged alternately to the Czech and Polish kingdoms. The residence must have stood here at the latest in the second half of the 16th century, when Prstná became the centre of an independent manor. In 1796, it was purchased by the knight Wojciech Gussnar of Komorná and on the site of a simple residence in the vicinity of the ash-pit, he had a one-storey L- shaped Empire castle with two wings built, which was complemented by a small English park. The Gussnars sold the castle to the prominent Larisch-Mönnich family in 1879. After the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Petrovice finally became part of Czechoslovakia in 1920 and the castle became the property of the local Sokol. A school and an internment camp operated here during the Second World War. After the war, the chateau was bought by the Vnuks, but eventually it became the property of the state and after a period of decay, reconstruction began in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Jednota Český Těšín then operated a hotel with a restaurant and the recently reconstructed Petrovice Chateau serves this purpose even today as private property.
